Matt Beswick is a finance director by day, and a musician at off-peak and weekends. He began singing in 1989 and piano in 1993, got lost for a while around 2000, and after seven years away from musical pursuits he found his way back - sneaking into filk in 2007. Alleged sightings at Harmuni 3 that summer and 2t0nic in Feb 2008 sparked the rumour that he knew his way around a piano, and maybe even had a voice - and after he finally believed it, this was confirmed at aXXIdental in the cold, snowy Feb of 2009. Soon after that, life got more complicated as he was spotted holding a guitar...

Soir-Lilac Blackwing, or more simply Soir, is an incorrigible familiar-spirit, a fuzzy white dragon who has written an eternity's worth of songs and stories and placed them within a number of secret books, which he never lets anyone read because he doesn't know if anyone - not excluding himself - is quite ready for them yet. Sometimes, he slips up and leaves this book open for perusal, and in these desperate few moments, a certain tall, quiet someone sneaks a glance...
... and often, music results. (The rest of the time, things aren't very interesting, and it is not this author's place to bore you with minutiae.)
While Soir himself never winds up in any fiction, Matt is within the process of writing a series of short stories with the common theme of familiars, being one of his very favourite concepts. Given the number of other commitments he's making, we're thinking he might need a clone. Or two.
